Quick Update

It has been a crazy couple of weeks. Christmas, family in town, new job, moving bedrooms, painting bedrooms and undecorating the home (boo!). At some point I will post about our fun Christmas events. We had lots of family in town and had lots of laughs. And shockingly nobody cried at least not in public! We are in the middle of painting a couple of bedrooms and I started a new job, so my free time is limited. I hope by this weekend I can have some pics up and some good stories to tell. Happy New Years!!

We love lights!

For Aydan's birthday we took him to see the Christmas lights at Temple Square. Aydan has really been into Christmas lights this year. At least twice a week he wants to take a ride and look at all the lights. He says our house is "just beautiful". So we bundled up and walked around Temple Square. It was super cold that night but we still had a great time. At least mom, dad, grandma and Aydan had fun, Sam pretty much looked miserable. We couldn't get him to smile he just gave us this look like, why are you doing this to me? He was very serious the whole time we were down there, but as soon as we got him out of this snow suit he was all smiles and giggles!

Ah Moment

If you know Sam you know that he is a very active and wiggly. He loves to jump and is always in motion. So when it comes to naps and bedtime there is no rocking this kid to sleep. He does well if you rock him and give him a bottle and he will fall asleep. But then there are the moments that he doesn't want a bottle so he will squirm, and do anything but lie quietly and let you rock him. So today when he was ready for a nap I put him in his crib and turned on his aquarium, but he just would not settle down. So I attempted to rock him, didn't work. But when I started singing The Wheels on the Bus he stopped wiggling and just stared at me. I sang for at least 10 minutes with him just staring at me. It was so sweet! And eventually he fell asleep in my arms. I love these quiet moments with just Sam and me. He is such a sweet, handsome boy. I guess I really do have a lovely voice, maybe I should try out for American Idol! Actually maybe he was staring at me wondering what that weird noise is that is coming from my mom's mouth!

Snow Day

We had a great snowfall on Saturday, just in time for Aydan's birthday party. And finally we got some good snow and lots of it! After Aydan's party we all went sledding. The best place is the elementary school down the street, it has a great hill and lots of room. Even though there are signs posted that say no sledding I think everybody pretends they can't read! We were very proud that Aydan actually got on a sled and loved it. Last year he wouldn't even get on and this year we couldn't get him to share.

Aydan's Party

This Saturday we had a birthday party for Aydan. He will be turning 4 on Tuesday. Can you believe that he is already 4!! It has been a long wait for Aydan, we told him about the birthday party that morning and he couldn't wait to have his party. He kept asking when his friends were coming and kept saying "this is taking forever and ever". Thank goodness we didn't mention the party before then. There were a couple of times he was almost in tears because he just didn't want to wait.

Reading his new book.

I think he loved the balloons more than the toys!

I know it is a princess cake! He asked for a cake with Aerial and that's what he got. I asked him several times if he wanted Cars or Spongebob but he would say " I still want Aerial." So of course he got his Aerial cake. They also included some other princess', which he used later as bath toys! We love our silly, crazy, precious boy!

Christmas Joys

I love Christmas! I love everything about the season. I love the lights, the smells, the decorations, the holiday movies and the Christmas tree! Christmas is even more fun now that we have the boys. Aydan is getting so excited, he actually has already opened all of the doors of our advent calendar. He didn't quite understand what once a day meant. Aydan loves to go on rides to see all of the lights around the city. Sam really has no idea what is going on, only that he loves to stare at the Christmas tree lights. If I could I would want to keep the Christmas decorations up year round. I mean how boring is my house once all of my decorations are down. I am oppressed with Christmas decorations, if I could I would buy everything I saw! Have you ever seen Elf? When he decorates his dad's house with all the snowflakes, glitter and tinsel? Well that is what I would love my house to look like. Over the top decorations!! Don't worry I haven't decorated my house like that...yet! Hope everybody has a festive Christmas season, and remember why we celebrate Christmas.

I know its not a Christmas pic, but isn't he so dang cute!

Our Chirstmas village, except most of the people are broken. Thanks Aydan!
