Destruction Baby!

Who doesn't love destruction! Last Wednesday me, my mom, Aydan, and Becca went to the Davis County Fair demolition derby. I was pretty skeptical, I kept asking my mom how it worked. Do they really just crash into each other, this makes no sense, how could this be fun. Then it started and it was wonderful, it was incredible. To see cars slam into each other breaking steel, the smoke, the fire and the destruction was breath taking. I even lost my voice I was screaming and laughing so hard. It was the most fun I have had in a long time, I am now a true lover of the demolition derby. Oh what fun!!

Oh the sweet smell of twisting steel!

This car actually hit the other car hard enough to flip it over! The highlight of the evening!

He's Walking and...

Eating and climbing and swimming and playing and driving and being crazy! After 14 months Sam is finally walking. He walks around the house and giggles. It is so funny! Apparently he thinks it is funny to walk. Even though he just started walking he had been a busy boy. He loves climbing on the chairs, on the table and on the windowsills. He also loves climbing up and down stairs and his most favorite things to do is open and close the back door. He really will open and close that door for 30 minutes or more. Another one of his new skills is driving Aydan's 4-wheeler. He can climb on the 4-wheeler and has figured out how to push down on the gas pedal and away he goes! He can't steer so we have to walk along side him as he drives it around the yard. It is a funny site to see this little boy riding a 4-wheeler. He is a handful but is so full of life and so happy! We love you Sammers!

Natalie Gets Married

Peter's sister Natalie got married on August 1st. It was a very nice ceremony and really fun reception. It was nice to see the extended family and hang out with the nieces and nephews. It is not very often that the whole family gets together. There was good food and lots of laughs. The best part was Aydan got to be the ring bearer. He was so handsome and precious. I will have to admit that I cried when I saw him walking down the aisle with his little ring pillow and looking so handsome. It was so dang cute. Best of luck to Natalie and Jayalen!

More Camping Fun

I am always behind on blogging, summers are just too busy and we are having too much fun! A couple of weeks ago we took the cousins, our two boys and my mom up to the Uintas for some camping. For a Tuesday it was very busy, we went to three different campgrounds before we found a good tent spot. We ended up camping at Mirror Lake. It was so beautiful and the weather was nice and cool. Actually at night it got a little too cool, for me and Sammers. The kids had a great time playing in the meadow and fishing. Peter made some awesome tin foil dinners of course. Unfortunately this was Sammers trial run to see if we would do more camping. And he failed miserably. Sammers was up from 3 am to 5am then woke up at 7am. It was exhausting! So we are going to have to wait until next year to take Sammers again. But we still had a good time and it was good to get out of the heat and enjoy the mountains!

24th Celebration

Myles, Aydan and Matthew watching the parade.

My goofy mom, Tara and Sam.

Aydan, Dusty and Lindsey.

For the 24th we went to the Bountiful parade then had some awesome desserts at our house. I love where we live. We only had to walk three blocks to the parade and the carnival afterward was practically in our backyard. So convenient! And it does help that we have great neighbors too. In order to get a good spot for the parade my neighbor Ashley and I had to wake up at 5:30 am! Most of the people that got the shade spots had to be there at 4:00am. We now have a secret spot, from the looks of it you would not think you would be in the shade, but we were in the shade most of the parade. We are so sneaky!! We went to the parade with our neighbors, the cousins, my family and some old neighbors who have moved on but can't get enough of the Nortons so they always return for festivities. The kids really loved the parade lots of candy and cool floats. Sam loved the parade too, there was so much to see that he just sat on peoples lap and didn't wiggle or want to get down. After the parade we went back to our house and had a dessert bar. Yummy!! Then we went out to the field near our house and watched the fireworks. What a great 24th!

Peter and Aydan, so handsome!

Aydan's cousins from Idaho, Dusty and Lindsey, have been down for the last couple of weeks. And we haven't seen Aydan since! He pretends that he doesn't have parents when they are down. We are now a one child family, what a difference! Of course while the cousins are here we have been busy doing all sorts of fun things. They all started private swim lessons. It is amazing how much they have all improved in just one week. Aydan, Dusty and Lindsey were all a little afraid of the water, but now they can swim! Aydan will even jump off the side and get his head all the way under the water without plugging his nose. I can't even do that! I love to see him playing in the water and not being afraid. It makes going to the rec center so much more fun. Next on the list of fun was Cherry Hill. Dusty and Lindsey had a great time going on the slides and the tube ride. Aydan of course would rather play in the pirate ship. He was not to happy that we took him on the dragon slide. He said that it really freaked him out. I am serious when I say that he was angry that we dared to take him on that ride. Oh Aydan! And finally we went camping with the Norton family and Moss family. We headed up Farmington Canyon to Bountiful Peak campground. The campground was really nice and the weather was perfect. It was a miracle that we did go camping. Natalie, Josh, Molly and Doyle are not the camping type but they were troopers and had a great time. Molly and Doyle kind of cheated and left in the evening and returned in the morning for breakfast. But they all did us a favor by taking Sammers with them. We love the wild Sammers but he really wears us out! We played some hide and seek, ate S'mores of course and just sat around the fire and talked. We really had a great time. Lucy even came and actually was great and very obedient, she didn't even need a leash. It has been so fun hanging out and spending time with the cousins. Aydan just admires those kids and they have so much fun together!

Fishing

Aydan getting ready to catch his fish!

On July 16th Peter took Aydan fishing for the first time. They went up to the Uintas to Pass Lake. And Aydan caught 2 fish! His first time and he catches the most fish. He was so proud, I am so proud. He is getting to be such a little man. Oh how I love my Aydan.
